Random Treasure Hunts

First, above all else, I am a Mom. Everything in my life takes second seat to that role.
Yes, I am a Marketing Director during the day, a crafter and graphic designer by night.
I am a wife, a sister, and daughter. But to me, my most important job is being a good Mom to my three children. I want them to know how much I love them. I want them to see me as their biggest cheerleader. I encourage them to push their limits, to try new things, and I push them to reach for their dreams.
Making time for my children is important. Turning off the computer and spending time with them, reading them stories, making up our own, singing silly songs and having flash dances during dinner are memories that we are creating together and that I hope they remember when they are grown. My mom did the same sorts of things with me and I’ve found myself recreating some of the fun we had with my own children. Random treasure hunts was one.

 {Clues don’t have to be anything fancy! Write ‘em up on scrap paper and cut them out, or spend time making them pretty on the computer, scrapbook paper. Truly it’s more about the hunt, and the memories being created, then what the paper looks like!}
My mom use to set up scavenger hunts on her lunch hour so that when we got home from school we would have a surprise waiting for us.  At the end could be anything – a bag of m&m’s, a Dollar store toy.  It really didn’t matter, it was just so exciting to have a surprise waiting for us!  I’ve done a few hunts for my kids, and they get as much of a kick out of it as I did.  Since I haven’t done one in a while, and maybe I’m feeling a little guilty that I’ll be leaving them for a week when we go to Jamaica, I set one up yesterday.

My oldest daughter and I set it up, sending them all over the house.
At the end they found two bags of M&M’s.

 Want to make your kids tell everyone how great of a mom you are?
Just set up a treasure hunt!
Happy Creating! ~Kim
